Futures spread narrowed sharply

KARACHI: Futures trading at the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) remained active during the week ended, with average daily traded volume increasing 6.9 percent week-on-week, while the futures spread narrowed sharply to 2.33 percent from 8.71 percent in the preceding week.

According to the weekly market data, Futures Average Daily Traded Volume (ADTO) increased to 197.17 million shares, compared with 184.46 million shares a week earlier, representing a rise of 6.9 percent.

The increase in volume was accompanied by a stronger rise in traded value. Futures average daily traded value climbed 18.9 percent to Rs9.98 billion, from Rs8.40 billion in the previous week.

Despite the increase in futures activity, the Futures Spread declined by 639 basis points, falling to 2.33 percent from 8.71 percent previously.
