Sri Lankan shares rise on gains in communication, consumer staples stocks

Sri Lankan shares closed higher on Thursday, led by communication services and consumer staples stocks.

The CSE All Share index settled up 0.56% at 21,539.

Samson International and LCB Finance were the top percentage gainers on the CSE All Share index.

Trading volume on the CSE All Share index rose to 76.7 million shares from 53.7 million in the previous session.

The equity market’s turnover rose to 2.78 billion Sri Lankan rupees ($8.3 million) from 2.06 billion rupees in the previous session, according to exchange data.

Foreign investors were net sellers, offloading stocks worth 657 million rupees, while domestic investors were net buyers, purchasing shares worth 2.74 billion rupees, the data showed.
