ISLAMABAD: Senate Chairman, Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, and National Assembly Speaker, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, on Saturday called for enhanced coordination and cooperation between the two Houses of Parliament to strengthen democratic institutions, ensure effective legislation, and promote political stability.
Gilani held a meeting with Speaker Ayaz Sadiq and Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah, during which the participants discussed parliamentary affairs, matters of national importance, and inter-institutional coordination.
The leaders exchanged views on measures to further strengthen cooperation between the Senate and the National Assembly and improve communication between the two parliamentary institutions, according to an official statement.
Gilani emphasised that close coordination and mutual cooperation between the two Houses were essential for strengthening democratic traditions and ensuring an effective parliamentary system.
He said an effective liaison between the Senate and the National Assembly was also vital for the stability and smooth functioning of the parliamentary system.
Speaker Ayaz Sadiq stressed the need to further strengthen institutional collaboration to facilitate effective legislation and meet public expectations.
The participants reaffirmed their commitment to promoting greater harmony and cooperation between the two Houses while upholding mutual respect and parliamentary norms.
