PICT expands business operations to logistics services

KARACHI: Pakistan International Container Terminal Limited (PICT) has announced plans to expand its operations by entering the logistics services business as part of its long-term growth strategy.

In a material information notice submitted to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Monday, the company said it has entered the logistics services business covering container delivery from container terminals, transportation, cargo handling at container terminals and last-mile delivery.

According to the disclosure, the new business is aligned with PICT’s operational expertise and is intended to leverage the company’s existing infrastructure, industry knowledge and customer relationships to provide integrated logistics and container terminal management services.

The company said the expansion forms part of its future business plan and long-term growth strategy aimed at broadening its operational footprint.

PICT stated that the financial impact of the new business is expected to remain limited initially and will depend on the development and business volumes achieved under the logistics operations.

The company added that it would continue to keep the market informed regarding progress on its future business plans.
