KARACHI: The Directorate of Intellectual Property Rights Enforcement (IPRE) of Pakistan Customs has recorded 201 IPR forfeiture cases and seized goods worth Rs 7.7 billion during FY 2025-26, depicting 24 percent increase as compared to the previous year.

According to the annual performance statistics released by the Directorate General (IPRE), the directorate, which registered 39 IPR forfeiture and seizure cases during FY 2024-25, has successfully recorded 201 IPR forfeiture cases and seized goods worth Rs 7.7 billion during FY 2025-26, showing a 24 percent increase as compared to the previous year.

The seized goods spanned a wide range of categories, including counterfeit luxury items, textiles, auto parts, cosmetics, footwear, and consumer durables, among other products.

Beyond seizures, the Directorate General said it ran 30 awareness sessions and seminars across the country during the year. The sessions brought together customs officers, chambers of commerce, importers, exporters, traders, and customs clearing agents to build understanding of intellectual property rights, border enforcement procedures, and the risks posed by counterfeit trade to legitimate businesses.

Abdul Qadir Memon, Directorate General IPRE, said Pakistan Customs remains committed to strengthening border enforcement mechanisms going forward. He pointed to capacity building, modern risk management techniques, and technological innovation as priorities, alongside continued engagement with domestic and international stakeholders to curb the trade in counterfeit and pirated goods.
