ISLAMABAD: Trade deficit of the country widened by 21.57 percent and reached USD 39.471 billion during financial year 2025-26 as compared to USD 32.467 billion in the previous year, driven by a decline in exports and a sharp increase in imports, according to data released by Pakistan Bureau of Statistic (PBS) on Thursday.
According to PBS, exports of the country remained USD 30.126 billion in fiscal year 2025-26 compared to USD 32.040 billion in the corresponding period of preceding year registering a decline of 5.97 percent.

Whereas the imports in the same period stood at USD 69.597 billion, showing an increase of 7.89 percent when compared to USD 64.507 billion in the preceding year.
In June, exports declined by 9.61 percent to USD 2.239 billion compared to USD 2.477 billion in the corresponding month of last year. Whereas imports in June increased by 26.27 percent to USD 6.767 billion compared to USD 5.359 billion in the same period of the previous year.
