Ashura holiday: PSX, SBP to remain closed on June 25-26

  • The Pakistan Stock Exchange will observe a two-day closure for Ashura, aligning with federal government public holidays.

The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) and the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) announced that they will remain closed on account of the Ashura holidays.

“All TRE Certificate Holders, staff and concerned are hereby informed that Pakistan Stock Exchange Limited shall remain closed on Thursday, June 25th, 2026 and Friday, June 26th, 2026, on account of Ashura, 9th and 10th Muharram, 1448, A.H.,” the bourse said.

The PSX observes holidays on Eid-ul-Fitr, Eid-ul-Azha, Ashura and Rabi-ul-Awal, and trading remains suspended on these days.

In a separate note, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) announced that it will remain closed on 25th and 26th June 2026, i.e. Thursday and Friday, being public holidays on the occasion of Ashura (9th and 10th Moharram 1448 A.H., as declared by the Government of Pakistan).

The federal government on Monday announced public holidays across the country on June 25 and 26 on account of Ashura Muharram.
