The man who threw a shoe at deposed Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif at an event held at Jamia Naeemia seminary in Lahore was sent on a 14-day judicial remand, along with two other suspects.

According to local media reports, the suspect has been identified as Talha Munawwar, who is a former student of the seminary, while the other two accused are Abdul Ghafoor and Mohammad Sajid Hussain. Earlier, an FIR was lodged against them, which included charges of assault, criminal intimidation and breaching public order.

The shoe-hurling incident took place on Sunday, when Nawaz reached the dais to address the audience at Jamia Naeemia seminary. A bearded man wearing a red cap hurled his shoe at the former premier, which hit him between the ear and shoulder. Security overpowered the student, Munawwar, who chanted ‘Labbaik Ya Rasoolallah' after throwing the shoe.

In a similar separate incident on Saturday, another man threw black ink on Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif during his address to workers' convention in Sialkot. The minister had, however, pardoned the man saying that he had no animosity with him.

During a workers' convention in Narowal last month, a man had hurled a shoe at Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal. The minister barely missed the shoe thrown at him and ordered the authorities not to take legal action against the man.
