HAMBURG: Taiwan’s MFIG purchasing group bought about 65,000 metric tons of animal feed corn expected to be sourced from the US in an international tender on Wednesday, European traders said.

The yellow corn was purchased at an estimated premium of 218.43 US cents a bushel cost and freight (c&f) included over the September 2026 Chicago corn contract, they said.

The seller was believed to be trading house CJ International. Reports reflect assessments from traders, and further estimates of prices and volumes are still possible later.

Traders reported that only US and Argentine corn was offered in the tender. Price offers for Brazilian and South African corn were requested by MFIG but none were reported.

A total of eight trading companies each offered 65,000 tons of US corn in the tender, with other premiums ranging from 222.49 to 233.44 US cents a bushel over Chicago, traders said.

One offer of Argentine-origin corn was reported at a premium of 236.81 a bushel over Chicago. Shipment was sought between July 2 and July 21 if the corn is sourced from the US Gulf, Brazil or Argentina, traders said.

If sourced from the US Pacific Northwest coast or South Africa, shipment was sought between July 17 and August 5. In its last reported corn tender on March 25, MFIG bought about 65,000 tons also expected to be sourced from the US.
