ISLAMABAD: National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has altered Prosumer Regulations to further tighten the process of net metering.
According to sources under the new regulations a new consumer/prosumer is required to have concurrence from the Authority irrespective the size of the facility. Further for submitting the application it is required to deposit a fee calculated at Rs 1000/kw.
The sources further stated that in the previous regulations, consumers installing distributed generation (DG) of above 25kw were required to obtain licence/concurrence from the Authority with the same processing fee as mentioned above however, for consumers with DG facility up to the size of 25kw or below were required to obtain the permission from Disco however the same has been changed due to the provisions of the NEPRA Act.
