Hyundai Motor is recalling 61,093 Palisade SUVs in the US following a fatal accident linked ‌to a power seat issue, the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said on Friday.

Hyundai said last week that it would stop sales of some new Palisade SUVs in the U.S. and Canada, and would recall them over the issue with power seats following an incident in which a two-year-old girl was killed in Ohio on March 7.

The NHTSA said ‌the second- and third-row power seats in the 2026 model year Palisade SUVs may not detect contact with an occupant or object as intended.

The recall affects certain Palisade and Palisade Hybrid vehicles, the regulator said, adding that a remedy was under development and that Hyundai will update the power seat control software in the interim.
