KARACHI: Sindh Governor Muhammad Nihal Hashmi, on Sunday, reaffirmed his commitment to best serve the people of Sindh by playing his due role in the development of the Sindh province, including Karachi, through a strong partnership between the Federation and the Sindh government.

Being the Governor, he would make every effort to establish a strong rapport with all political parties representing Sindh and take all the stakeholders along for the good of the province and the country.

Addressing a press conference at the Governor House, Hashmi said that it was his responsibility to represent every district, village and individual of Sindh.

He said that the Governor House represents the entire province of Sindh. It is not his personal residence, but a place where he serves as the custodian. He prayed that Allah, the Almighty to grant him the ability to perform his duties with honesty, integrity and justice.

Paying rich tribute to the father of the nation, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the Governor said that today we are living in an independent Muslim state, Pakistan, due to the tireless struggle of the Quaid and the sacrifices of many other Muslim leaders of that time.

Hashmi paid tribute to the former Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif’s vision behind the major development projects including motorways, Thar coal, Gwadar Port and the tractor scheme. “Nawaz Sharif’s philosophy is First Pakistan, then the people, and lastly the party.”

He said that Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir belongs to a hardworking and patriotic family.

In the interest of the people, he announced that arrangements for Sehri and Iftar would be made for the public at the Governor House, starting from tomorrow.

When his attention was drawn to the IT training facility being run at the Governor House by former governor Sindh Muhammad Kamran Khan Tessori, Nihal Hashmi assured that after Eid-ul-Fitr, this facility would be reorganised and given formal status as an IT institute with affiliation to a top government university.
