LAHORE: Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif said the Punjab government would extend all possible cooperation in addressing the challenges faced by Balochistan.

“We stand shoulder to shoulder with the people and government of Balochistan. The elimination of terrorism is only possible through national unity,” she said while addressing the Balochistan cabinet members in Quetta.

The chief minister expressed her desire to see peace, stability and prosperity in Balochistan, adding that Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti is steering the province’s affairs with courage and resilience under challenging circumstances.

Maryam Nawaz Sharif said Punjab would provide full support in operations against Fitna al-Kharij and expressed hope that terrorism would soon be eliminated from Balochistan. She thanked the governor and the chief minister of Balochistan for the warm welcome and appreciated the people of the province for their loyalty to the country.

She reiterated that Punjab’s resources and services are available for Balochistan and expressed her wish to serve the people of the province. “I pray that Balochistan continues to progress and becomes a cradle of peace and happiness,” she added.

Maryam Nawaz Sharif said she was pleased that her first visit as chief minister was to Balochistan. She praised the spirit of the people of Balochistan and their commitment to Pakistan, calling it commendable.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti thanked Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif for her visit and said that Punjab’s assistance for security purposes is a positive and commendable step. He added that the government and opposition in Balochistan are united for public welfare.

At the chief minister’s Office, Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Ahmed Bugti, the provincial cabinet and lawmakers accorded her a cordial reception. The CM also met members of the Balochistan cabinet and allied parties.

Earlier, the Punjab CM on arrival in Quetta, received a warm welcome from Governor Balochistan Jaffar Khan Mandokhail, Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti, provincial ministers and members of the provincial assembly.
