LAHORE: Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif has said that students from Balochistan will also get Honhaar scholarships and will also be included in the laptop scheme.
During a meeting with the female students and faculty members of various colleges of Balochistan, the CM said, “A glass train is being introduced from Rawalpindi to Murree to promote tourism. I am very overjoyed over the starting of Champion Trophy in Pakistan after many years. I am surprised to see children’s scientific models in the STEAM programme.”
The CM presented laptops and gifts to the Balochistan delegation. The female students of Balochistan presented CM Punjab a traditional Balochi shawl.
The Chief Minister while talking on the occasion said, “five years of projects and programmes have been started in just one year. Patients from Balochistan will also be treated in the first government-run Nawaz Sharif Cancer Hospital. Millions of people are getting treatment facilities at their doorsteps in the field hospitals. Children heart surgery programme has been started to ensure timely treatment of children.”
She said, “150 health centres across Punjab have been converted into ‘Maryam Nawaz Clinics’ of European standards. Treatment and medicines up to Rs one million will be provided to the patients suffering from kidney diseases through the ‘Dialysis Card’. A method of freezing cancer tumors in 60 minutes using an ultrasound machine is being introduced. For the first time in Punjab, a ‘Cryosurgery’ treatment method will be introduced in Mayo Hospital in a few weeks.”
The CM Punjab said, “Punjab holds the honour of introducing Pakistan’s first government air ambulance. 13,000 students are being given scholarships across Punjab, 100,000 laptops will also be given. To save transportation costs, vegetables and fruits will be grown locally in the respective districts. Under the Dhee Rani programme, 1,500 couples, including differently-abled persons have been married at government expense.”
She said, “We are providing subsidy of one million rupees to the farmers to purchase tractors. For the first time, an integrated and comprehensive environmental policy has been implemented in Punjab. Wherever a road is being built in Punjab, trees are also being planted on the sides of the road. Cruel treatment of animals is not allowed in Punjab. A rainwater harvesting program has been started in Punjab for the protection of water bodies. Interest-free loans of Rs 30 million are being provided through Asaan Karobar Card and Finance schemes.”
The CM said, “There was no integrated sanitation and cleaning system in 24,000 villages of Punjab. “Suthra Punjab” programme is not only the province but also the country’s biggest sanitation and cleaning program. I want to see the entire province neat and clean like my own home. 15,000 loans have been given to build houses under the Apni Chhat, Apni Ghar programme. Pink button system has been successfully introduced for the safety of women and children.”
On the direction of CM Punjab, Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb and Provincial Minister for Information and Culture Azma Zahid Bokhari also gave a briefing on the ongoing projects in Punjab. The female students coming from various colleges in Balochistan appreciated the ongoing programs and projects in Punjab.
The female students and faculty members of various Balochistan colleges while talking to the CM said that Punjab is undoubtedly ahead of other provinces in every field. Health education and other sectors in Punjab are comparatively better than other provinces.
In Balochistan, ‘Roti’ is available at Rs 40-50. It is heartening to know the price of ‘Roti’ around 12-13 rupees in Punjab.
