ISLAMABAD: Security forces have intensified counterterrorism operations across Balochistan in response to a wave of coordinated attacks carried out by terrorists linked to Fitna-e-Hindustan, security sources said.

According to officials, terrorists launched attacks at multiple locations across the province over the past two days. Due to timely and effective action by security forces and law-enforcement agencies, the assaults were thwarted, triggering large-scale follow-up and pursuit operations. Security sources confirmed that 67 terrorists were killed in operations conducted since Friday morning, while 41 militants had already been eliminated in earlier encounters in Panjgur and Shaban areas over the previous two days, taking the total number of terrorists killed in Balochistan to 108.

During the ongoing operations, 10 personnel of the security forces and police embraced martyrdom while defending civilians and critical installations, officials said.

In a separate and particularly tragic incident, terrorists targeted Baloch labourer families in Gwadar, killing 11 unarmed civilians, including five men, three women and three children, all of whom had come to the port city for daily wage labour. Security sources said all terrorists involved in the attack were subsequently neutralised.

Security forces continue extensive search, pursuit and intelligence-based operations, supported by aerial surveillance, to eliminate any remaining militant threats in surrounding areas.

Officials said the attacks on poor labourers underline the group’s intent to undermine peace, development and economic activity in Balochistan.

Security sources also noted that coverage and amplification of these incidents by Indian media and social media platforms further exposed what they described as coordination and support for militant narratives.

Authorities said operations will continue until complete clearance is achieved and vowed that those responsible for targeting civilians would be dealt with decisively.
