Bata Pakistan Limited has appointed Ahsan Umar as its new Chief Executive (CEO) following the resignation of Muhammad Imran Malik.
The listed company disclosed the development in a notice to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Thursday.
“We hereby inform you that the Board of Directors has appointed Ahsan Umar as chief executive of the company with effect from January 01, 2026, to fill the casual vacancy arising from the resignation of Muhammad Imran Malik.
“Ahsan Umar shall hold office as chief executive of the company for the remainder of the term of the Board of Directors,” read the notice.
According to information available on the Bata website, Ahsan Umar was serving as the company’s Commercial Director, responsible for developing and implementing marketing, merchandising and channelling strategy.
Before joining Bata Pakistan, Umar served as Director of Operations at Masood Textile Mills Limited.
He has a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Lahore University of Management and Sciences (LUMS). He has done management courses from different international institutes, including Harvard Business School. BATA was incorporated in Pakistan in 1951 and became public in 1979.
The company is engaged in the manufacturing and sale of all kinds of footwear, along with the sale of accessories and hosiery items. Bafin B.V. (Nederland) is the parent company of BATA, whereas the ultimate parent company is Compass Limited, Bermuda.
As of December 31, 2023, BATA has 444 retail outlets across Pakistan. The company has an annual production capacity of 18.394 million pairs.
