COAS highlights Balochistan’s development, warns against external interference
- Praises resilience, patriotism of people of Balochistan; says province holds pivotal role in Pakistan’s future growth
Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces (COAS & CDF), on Wednesday highlighted the strategic importance of Balochistan for Pakistan’s prosperity and stressed a people-centred approach to the province’s socio-economic development.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the COAS was interacting with participants of the 18th National Workshop on Balochistan at the General Headquarters (GHQ).
Addressing the participants, he praised the resilience and patriotism of the people of Balochistan and said the province holds a pivotal role in Pakistan’s future growth.
He appreciated the wide-ranging initiatives being undertaken by the federal and provincial governments to improve living standards and unlock the province’s economic potential for the benefit of local communities.

The army chief also acknowledged the constructive role of civil society, particularly in countering propaganda, and said their contribution was vital for sustainable development.
He stressed the need to reject vested political interests so that Balochistan’s future is guided by long-term prosperity for all its residents.
Referring to security challenges, the COAS said Indian-sponsored proxies continue attempts to spread violence and disrupt development in Balochistan. He reaffirmed that such efforts would be thwarted through firm action by security forces to eliminate terrorism and unrest from the province.

Reiterating Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace and stability, he warned that any violation of the country’s territorial integrity, whether direct or indirect, would be met with a strong and decisive response. He said the armed forces remain fully committed to protecting the lives and well-being of citizens.
The session concluded with an interactive question-and-answer segment, during which the COAS shared further insights into ongoing development and security efforts in Balochistan.
