KARACHI: Local and international silver prices reached new highs, while gold made significant gains on Wednesday, mirroring a global surge, traders said. Silver prices grew by Rs290 to hit all-time high of Rs 6,822 per tola and Rs248 to Rs 5,848 per 10 grams, All Pakistan Sarafa Gems and Jewellers Association said. Global market gained USD3, driving silver to a new record level of USD66 per ounce while gold was trading at USD 4,312 per ounce, up by USD27, the association cited.
Domestic gold prices soared by Rs 2,700 to Rs 453,562 per tola. Similarly, value of per 10 grams settled at Rs 388,856 after a rise of Rs 2,315, it added.
