ISLAMABAD: Dr Ali Larijani, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, on Tuesday thanked Pakistan for its support during the recent Israeli-Palestinian conflict and praised the defence agreement between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.

Larijani made these remarks during a meeting with Speaker of the National Assembly, Ayaz Sadiq, who also expressed gratitude for Iran’s diplomatic and moral backing during Pakistan’s conflict with India.

Sadiq underscored Pakistan’s decisive response to Indian aggression and reiterated its commitment to peaceful regional solutions.

The two leaders discussed strengthening bilateral ties, with Sadiq emphasizing the “brotherly” nature of relations between Pakistan and Iran.

He highlighted the positive impact of recent high-level exchanges and stressed the importance of deepening parliamentary and people-to-people cooperation.

He also expressed concerns over the use of Afghan soil for terrorism and reaffirmed Pakistan's resolve to eliminate terrorism within its borders.

In turn, Larijani emphasized the potential for greater cooperation across multiple sectors and noted the deep affection Iranians hold for the Pakistani people.

Both sides agreed to explore new opportunities for economic partnership and reaffirmed their commitment to promoting unity and solidarity among Muslim nations.
