Islamabad court extends Imran Khan, Bushra Bibi’s pre-arrest bail in May 9
- Court could not hear arguments on the bail petitions on other cases as well and adjourned proceedings until December 23
The Islamabad District and Sessions Courts extended on Tuesday the pre-arrest bail of former prime minister Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi in the May 9 riots and five other cases, Aaj News reported.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Afzal Mujooka presided over the hearing involving the PTI founder, including the May 9 incident as well as five other related matters.
As the former PM did not appear before the court today, the court could not hear arguments on the bail petitions and adjourned proceedings until December 23.
Imran, who has been in prison since 2023, is facing charges of corruption, land fraud and disclosure of official secrets, is also being tried separately on similar charges related to the riots.

The government accused him and other PTI leaders of inciting the May 9, 2023, protests, during which demonstrators attacked military and government buildings, including the army headquarters in Rawalpindi and Jinnah House Lahore.
The former prime minister denies wrongdoing and says all the cases are politically motivated to dismantle his party.
The PTI founder’s cases have been tried inside prison on security grounds.
