KARACHI: The Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP) Central Executive Committee (CEC) late on Thursday night firmly rejected proposed changes to the National Finance Commission (NFC) award formula.

Addressing a joint press conference flanked by Senate Chairman Yousuf Raza Gilani and other PPP leaders, the party’s Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari announced: “PPP rejects proposal to change NFC formula.”

The key meeting of the PPP’s CEC was convened to make important decisions regarding the proposed 27th Constitutional Amendment.

Addressing the presser, Bilawal said that the PPP’s CEC meeting gave its nod to the proposed amendment to Article 243 of the Constitution.

He maintained that his party rejected rest of all proposed amendments to the Constitution. The PPP chairman said the final decision on the proposed constitutional court would be made at the CEC meeting scheduled after Friday prayers.

The meeting was chaired by President Asif Ali Zardari and PPP Chairman Bilawal. It was attended by the party’s ministers from Sindh and Balochistan. Governors from Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit Baltistan were also in attendance.
