PARTLY FACETIOUS: ‘So Shakespeare said it’s a tale told by an idiot’
“One question: why was Faisal Vawda, who is not a member of the cabinet, sent to see The Maulana?”
“Therein lies a tale…”
“So sayeth Shakespeare but that’s not where the sentence ends.”
“Dear Lord, what happened to your self-preservation instincts!”
“I am simply quoting a guy who has been dead centuries ago so where do my instincts come in?”
“Alrighty.”
“So Shakespeare said it’s a tale told by an idiot.”
“Never liked Shakespeare.”
“Okay anyway Vawda is a senator for your information and…”
“And he is a one man show.”
“Absolutely, and so off he went to see The Maulana to get support for the which amendment of the constitution are we at now?”
“Hey, change is good because as the ground realities change…”
“Gotcha so why Vawda, I mean I thought the Interior Minister…”
“Perhaps because he allowed footage of himself with a Taliban leader saying Pakistan would always talk to them after the talks had failed and…”
“Right, I saw that too, that’s two down.”
“Two down?”
“The first was when he allowed footage of himself with the Pope, and as Shakespeare said about Caesar – thrice did he refuse the crown…”
“That Pope is dead, long live the Pope.”
“Don’t be facetious.”
“No, seriously, we are back to one down.”
“Hmmmm.”
“But as you know in the animal farm some animals are more equal than others…”
“Agreed.”
