Chief guest of the event Punjab Governor Malik Muhammad Rafique Rajwana appreciated the women's role in economic progress of the country and said:" We are seeing women's role in every walk of life and their role in other sectors is praiseworthy". He added that the Punjab government was making efforts for effective legislation for ensuring rights of women in inheritance.
"Women day is an historic day that demands the need to change our attitudes and approach towards gender discrimination", the governor said, while appreciating Regional Chairman FPCCI Ch Arfan Yousaf and Vice President Shabnam Zafar for organizing a momentous International Women Day event.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Ayesha Ghous Pasha, Provincial Minister for Finance, said every day was a women day and women empowerment should be encouraged. The goal of development could not be achieved without practical participation of women in the national economy, she added.
Justice (retd) Nasira Javaid Iqbal said dream of a prosper country could not be achieved without positive involvement of women in economic activities.
MNA Shaista Pervaiz Malik said women participation in politics was very significant for women development and the government remained committed to empower women in the country particularly through active participation in the political and economic spheres.
Shabnam Zafar, Vice President FPCCI and Masooma Sibtain, former vice president FPCCI highlighted the FPCCI's role in women empowerment.
