Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor, Barrister Masood Kausar has said that no society can get progress and prosperity without focusing on promotion of education and the pleasant aspect in respect of Fata is that the literacy rate amongst female populace is in the increasing trend presently.
He was talking during his visit to Government Degree College for Women, Parachinar in Kurram Agency on Wednesday. MNA, Sajid Hussain Turi, Senator Rashid Ahmad Khan, Additional Chief Secretary, Fata, Tashfin Khan, Commissioner, Kohat Division, Sahibzada Muhammad Anis, Political Agent and other senior government officials accompanied the governor.
The governor listened to point of views of the teachers and students about the problems, which they have been facing in carrying forward academic pursuits and said that a vast majority of our population comprises upon females and with this fact in mind, government is focusing upon promotion of educational facilities. This institution, he added, will also get fullest concentration in this respect. Since the literacy rate in FATA, he added, is comparatively less as against rest of the country therefore, extra efforts are underway to provide educational facilities of the desired level in the area.
"We want to see youth from FATA as capable doctors, engineers, scientists in every field of life and no effort is being spared to make this possible", he added. The governor also planted a sapling at the lawn of the college. Earlier, he inspected the Para Chinar Public School and while going through its various sections and computer laboratories, he stressed the need for making optimum utilisation of the available modern facilities in getting knowledge. Later on the Governor laid foundation stone for construction of a Polytechnic Institute at Parachinar and inspected its site. He also urged to complete the project at the earliest.
Meanwhile, the Governor also inaugurated Parachinar Press Club and administered oath of offices to its newly elected office bearers. He also announced a grant of Rs 0.2 million for the press club. Talking on this occasion the governor said that the tribes are the peace loving people and leading their lives in a fraternal atmosphere. The media, he added, should project the real face of the tribal people. The governor also held an open Kachehri on this occasion and while listening to the grievances of the tribal participants, he also assured to resolve them at the earliest.
At the end of his two day tour to Kurram Agency, the governor visited the Sports Complex at Parachinar where he was accorded warm welcome by a large number of tribal people. Talking on this occasion the governor said that the government is taking all-out measures for promotion of sports in FATA.
