SC extends deadline to conclude NAB cases against Sharif, Dar
The Supreme Court (SC) extended on Wednesday the corruption trial deadline filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) against deposed Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to two months and former Finance Minister Ishaq Dar to three months.
According to local media reports, the SC was requested to be allow more time to conclude the NAB cases against Sharif and Dar, to which the apex court granted them more time.
The three member bench headed by Justice Ejaz Afzal also asked how Dar had been allowed to contest for the Senate elections as he was absconding the corruptions hearing. The bench was informed that upon Lahore High Court's orders he had been allowed to contest.
Dar has been declared a proclaimed offender due to his continuous failure by the accountability court to appear before the court proceedings regarding owing assets beyond his known source of income.

Similarly, the SC extended corruption references against Sharif and his family by two months. Sharif, along with daughter Maryam Nawaz, son-in-law Captain (retd) Safdar and sons Hussain and Hassan Nawaz, have been accused of corruption in Avenfiled, Flagship and Al-Azizia properties.
On July 28 last year, the SC had disqualified Nawaz from his post as prime minister and had given NAB six months time to wrap up his and his family's corruption hearing.
