Resuming the hearing of Naqeebullah murder case on Monday, Supreme Court (SC) gave one week time to Services Intelligence (ISI) and Military Intelligence (MI) to submit a report on the hunt for Malir Senior Superintendent Police (SSP) Rao Anwar.

During the court proceedings, Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Saqib Nisar has also asked the relevant authorities to submit the CCTV video of Anwar when he had attempted to flee to Dubai from Islamabad airport, local media reported.

The CJP  inquired Inspector General (IG) of Sindh Police AD Khawaja why the absconding officer had not been apprehended when all assistance had been given to him. The IG informed the court that there was no development in tracking Anwar through Whatsapp.

The former SSP who is involved in the extra judicial murder of Naqeebullah Mehsud, is still on the run. Upon the failure of ISI and MI  to submit their report regarding Anwar, the CJP had directed both agencies to submit their report and adjourned the hearing till 11:30.

The former SSP is wanted in the extra judicial murder of 27-year-old Naqeebullah, a native of Waziristan. He was killed, along with three other suspected terrorists, on January 13. However, Naqeebullah’s family has claimed that the deceased was innocent and was killed in a ‘fake’ encounter. The SC had taken suo motu notice of his murder and had summoned Anwar, who since then has been absconding the court proceedings.
