DG ISPR among 12 Major Generals promoted to rank of Lt Gen

ISLAMABAD: Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) Major General Babar Iftikhar was among 12 major generals to have been promoted to the rank of lieutenant-general, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) announced on Tuesday.

According to the ISPR, the officers promoted to the three-star rank include Major General Inam Haider Malik, Major General Fayyaz Hussain Shah, Major General Nauman Zakria, Major General Muhammad Zafar Iqbal, Major General Ayman Bilal Safdar, Major General Ahsan Gulrez, Major General Syed Aamer Raza, Major General Shahid Imtiaz, Major General Muhammad Munir Afsar, Major General Babar Iftikhar, Major General Yousaf Jamal, and Major General Kashif Nazir.

Newly-promoted Lt Gen Inam Haidar Malik is Chief Engineer and DG works at GHQ. He has previously served as DG Frontier Works Organization. As two-star general, he also served as GOC Infantry Division, Quetta.

Newly-promoted Lt Gen Fayyaz Hussain Shah is currently working as DG Evaluation at GHQ. He was previously posted as IG FC North Balochistan. He also served at the National Defence University, Islamabad.

Newly promoted Lt Gen Nauman Zakaria was currently Vice Chief of General Staff at the GHQ. Before that, he served as GOC Infantry Division Waziristan and DG Military Operations, GHQ.

Newly-promoted Lt Gen Muhammad Zafar Iqbal is working as acting commander Air Defence Command. Previously, he was GOC Air Defence Division, Karachi and also served as GOC Infantry Division Sialkot.

32 brigadiers promoted to rank of major general

Newly-promoted Lt Gen Ayman Bilal Safdar is heading a special cell at Chief of General Staff Secretariat, GHQ. Prior to this assignment, he was IG FC south Balochistan. He also served as chief instructor National Defence University, Islamabad and GOC Infantry Division, Sialkot.

Newly-promoted Lt Gen Raja Ahsan Gulrez is serving as DG military training at GHQ. He has previously served as GOC CPEC Division and GOC Infantry Division, Kharian. He also served as Chief of Staff Karachi Corps.

Newly-promoted Lt Gen Syed Aamer Raza is currently working as Chairman Heavy Industries Taxila. Previously, he has served as DG weapon and equipment at GHQ. Prior to that, he was GOC Infantry Division, Kharian.

Newly-promoted Lt Gen Shahid Imtiaz is Commandant Infantry School, Quetta. Prior to that, he was GOC Infantry Division, Jehlum. He also served as DG staff duties at the Chief of Army Staff Secretariat.

Newly-promoted Lt Gen Muhammad Munir Afsar currently performing his duties as IG FC KP south. Prior to this assignment, he was DG Command, Control, Communication and Intelligence in GHQ. As two-star, also served in the ISI.

Newly-promoted Lt Gen Babar Iftikhar is DG ISPR and previously served as GOC Armoured Division, Multan.

Newly-promoted Lt Gen Yousaf Jamal has served as DG NLC and GOC Infantry Division, Sialkot. Newly-promoted Lt Gen Kashif Nazir has served as DG Counter-Intelligence ISI. Prior to that, he was DG housing in GHQ. He also served as GOC Engineering Division. Three Lieutenant Generals will retire in the month of October, in which, Corps Commander Lahore Lieutenant General Abdul Aziz will retire on October 20, DGSPD Lieutenant General Nadeem Zaki Manj on October 19, and DG Training Evaluation Lieutenant General Muhammad Adnan will retire on October 12.

While Corps Commander Mangla Lt Gen Shaheen Mazhar will retire on November 5 and Lt Gen Waseem Ashraf, who is currently serving as DG Joint Staff Headquarters (JS) will retire on November 19 and Lt Gen Asim Munir who is currently serving as Quarter Master General at the GHQ, will retire on November 27.

Earlier, in July, the Pakistan Army had awarded promotions to as many as 32 brigadiers, bringing them to the rank of major-general.
