ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court Monday adjourned hearing of a suo moto notice case regarding sale of substandard stents in the country for ten days.

A three-member bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar heard the case.

During the course of proceedings, Rawalpindi Executive Director of Institute of Cardiology submitted report of the committee constituted by the court on the issue.

The court ordered to send copies of the report to the drug regulatory authority of Pakistan and provincial governments for comments within ten days.

The report said cost of placing a stent in the heart would reduce from three hundred thousand to one hundred thousand rupees.

The chief justice remarked that reducing the cost to one hundred thousand rupees was a wonder. He remarked that the report was great news for him. However, he also pointed out that the nation could not afford this price.
