HONG KONG: Hong Kong stocks were higher at the break Friday despite pressure on Wall Street equities after reports the Biden administration was weighing a tax increase on high earners.

The Hang Seng Index rose 0.90 percent, or 258.98 points, to 29,014.32 by noon.
