Netherlands envoy calls on minister
LAHORE: A delegation led by Deputy Ambassador of Netherlands to Pakistan Josephine Frantzen met Punjab Minister for HR&MA Khalil Tahir Sandhu on Thursday at his camp office.
Matters of mutual interests were discussed in details. The delegation comprised on Javed William and Elaine Alam.
The minister apprised the Netherlands Ambassador of the measures taken by the Punjab government for the welfare of minorities such as allocation of five per cent quota in government jobs, six month's remission in sentences on Christmas, 20 additional marks for learning religious book by heart, setting up of minority advisory councils and educational scholarships for students.
Khalil Tahir Sandhu informed the Netherlands delegation that Human Rights Department had promoted harmony and tolerance among youth and awareness in the people of their respective areas about the protection of human rights.
The Netherlands ambassador appreciated the measures taken by the Punjab government for the protection of human rights and welfare of minorities and stressed the need for promotion of relations and cooperation between Pakistan and Netherlands in different sectors.
