KARACHI: Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry vice president and All Pakistan Restaurant Association convener Athar Sultan Chawla has urged the government to allow dining in at restaurants, saying that the government should stop discrimination and allow the restaurant industry to function as usual to prevent it from catastrophe.

He said that with the number of coronavirus cases declining, the government had allowed the majority of sectors of the economy to resume their normal activities, but no attention was being paid to complete revival of the restaurant industry, which raised serious concerns among traders and investors associated with the industry.

Chawla said that millions of jobs were dependent on the restaurant business being allowed to function at the normal level. He said that the restaurant sector was ready to play an important role in promoting business and investment activities and creating employment.

However, to make this possible, the government would have to allow dining in at restaurants as the restaurant sector could not function without offering its customers the dining in facilities.
