Sindh reports 822 new COVID-19 cases, mostly in Karachi

Sindh continues to witness rise in COVID-19 cases as 822 new infections, mostly from Karachi, emerged in the province on Friday.

Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah giving daily briefing said, “We have reported 822 cases during the past 24 hours after performing 10,641 cases.”

He said that four more people lost their battle against the deadly virus during the period, contrary to 322 recoveries during the same period.

“As many as 37 patients are put on ventilators,” he said while sharing the figure of critically-ill COVID-19 patients.

Furthermore he said, virus continues to spread in Karachi with 621 cases out of the aforementioned tally are from the port city.

Meanwhile, Pakistan reported more than 2000 cases in the last 24 hours, which is the highest-single day reported since July.

In the last 24 hours, 36,923 people were tested for the novel virus bringing the case positivity rate to 6.4%.

Out of these 2,304 people tested COVID-9 positive. So far, the country has conducted 4,847,105 tests out of which 352,296 have come out positive.
