81 schools sealed in KP over COVID-19 SOPs violation

As many as 81 schools in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) were sealed over violation of the standard operating procedures (SOPs) imposed to stop the spread of novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

As per details, 81 schools – 78 government and three private – were sealed after found violating the SOPs.

Out of them, 62 schools were allowed to reopen after compliance with the standard operating procedures, while 19 government schools are still sealed.

The report highlighted that the COVID-19 testing ratio increased to 1.51pc from 1.12 in the last month of October.

Meanwhile, earlier in the day, the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) recommended early and extended winter vacations for students due to an increasing number of coronavirus cases at educational institutions.

The special meeting at NCOC will be chaired by Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood where all provincial education ministers will be attending. The recommendations decided in the meeting would be shared with the provinces for decision-making and enforcement, APP said.
