Pak-Russian forces practice counter-terrorism drills, procedures

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) has said that the Russian Federation Special Forces and the Pakistan Army are busy doing the joint counter-terrorism exercise DRUZHBA - V at Tarbela.

In a tweet, Director-General (DG) ISPR Major General Babar Iftikar said that the participating troops are busy practicing counter-terrorism drills and procedures, as well as rappelling and preparing for sky diving.

Sharing a video of the joint exercise, the DG ISPR added that sports activities are also part of the exercise.

The opening ceremony of a two-week Druzhba V was held on Sunday at Tarbela. The ceremony was attended by the Russian ambassador to Pakistan, Danila Ganich as well as senior officials from both armies.

The Russian team arrived in Pakistan on November 5. This will be the fifth joint military drill between Pakistan and Russia under the bilateral training cooperation agreement which will continue for two weeks. In October 2016, troops from both countries held their first-ever joint military exercise in Pakistan.
