White House chief of staff Mark Meadows has tested positive for coronavirus becoming the latest official in President Donald Trump's administration to become infected.

A senior administration official said that Meadows tested positive for the virus on Wednesday after the election. Meadows regularly accompanied Trump on the final days of the campaign rallies leading up to the presidential election on Tuesday.

Another top campaign aide, Nick Trainer has also been diagnosed with the novel virus, Reuters reported. At least four other White House aides have also been tested COVID-19 positive.

More than three dozen people associated with the White House and the US president have been infected by the virus. Last month, Trump, wife Melania, and their youngest son, Barron, Vice President Mike Pence’s chief of staff, Marc Short, and other aides tested positive for the virus.

On Friday, more than 126,000 people tested positive for the novel coronavirus. About 9.7 million Americans have contracted the virus. The country has reported at least 236,000 fatalities.
