Farmer's death by Punjab police exposes fascist face of government: PPP

LAHORE: Secretary General Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Punjab Ch Manzoor Ahmed said Thursday death of a farmer leader Ashfaq Langrial in the hands of the Punjab police has exposed fascist face of the government. He was talking to media during his visit to Jinnah hospital to express solidarity with the relatives of deceased peasant leader. He also held a meeting with President Kissan Ittehad Ch Anwar on the occasion and addressed a joint press conference.

Ch Manzoor said the cruel and unabated violence of police force led to the death of a peaceful farmer and demanded registration of First Information Report (FIR) against the responsible ones. According to him, both the prime minister and chief minister Punjab were responsible for the death of Langrial and FIR should be registered against them.

He has also demanded early recovery of farmers being abducted by the law enforcement agencies and taken to unknown places. He urged the government to take immediate steps for the recovery of all such farmers and their early release. He said the government should inform that where the injured farmers have been detained by the Punjab government.

He said PPP stands with the struggle of farmers and urged the government to stop use of force against those who are struggling for their rights. Meanwhile, PPP Punjab President and former Governor Gilgit Baltistan (GB) Qamar Zaman Kaira has said that election results of Gilgit Baltistan would be beginning of the departure of Prime Minister Imran Khan from power.
