Updated 04 Nov, 2020

ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed on Tuesday was urged to constitute a three-member bench for hearing the post-arrest bail of Mir Shakilur Rehman in the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) plot case.

Justice Mushir Alam, heading a two-judge bench, said a division bench of the Lahore High Court (LHC) had dismissed the bail petition of Editor-in-Chief of the Jang/Geo Group Mir Shakilur Rehman; therefore, now a three-member bench shall hear the appeal against the LHC verdict.

He, therefore, referred the matter to the chief justice for constituting a three-member bench.

On September 30, Justice Umar Ata Bandial refused to hear Mir Shakilur Rehman, post-arrest bail application due to personal reasons.

The Supreme Court on October 8th had issued notice to the prosecutor general National Accountability Bureau (NAB), and called a report from the Accountability Court, Lahore, on post-arrest bail of Mir Shakilur Rehman.

A division bench of the LHC on 8th July 2020 had dismissed the writ petition of Shakilur Rehman.
