DRAP Launches Med Safety App to Report Adverse Drug Reactions

The Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) has launched a free mobile application for reporting adverse drug reactions.

This Med Safety mobile app was developed by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA), UK. Moreover, the World Health Organization (WHO) will also directly receive complaint regarding adverse reactions of drug.

This user-friendly app will allow users to submit reports on adverse reactions even when they are offline. They can easily view and submit updates on previously submitted reports. Users will also receive an immediate acknowledgement of receipt on their reports.

This app will also enable users to create a watch list of medication to receive personalized news and alerts. Moreover, there would be a separate reporting form for suspected adverse drug reactions in relation to COVID-19. Quick action will be taken on emergency cases in accordance with the SOPs developed by the authority.

Dr. Abdur Rashid, the Director Pharmacy Services DRAP, also explains that the “ADR reporting is a just a touch way and with active participation, citizens can contribute to the cause of safety of medicines in the country”.

Through this mobile app, DRAP hopes to improve access to important drugs in the country, while also increasing reporting and regulation of drugs with averse effects.

The app is now available on Google play store and iOS.
