NAB initiates inquiry against Abid Sher Ali’s father

The former MNA is accused of giving government-owned land on favoritism.

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Monday initiated an inquiry against father of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Abid Sher Ali.

According to ARY news, Sher Ali, who was the former Member National Assembly (MNA), is accused of abusing his authority while he was in power.

The former MNA is accused of giving government-owned land on favoritism, states the report. It was learnt that a textile mill was established on the 800 kanal land of the Punjab government by the private persons on the lease, which was later shut down.

Financial losses to the national exchequer were reported due to the non-transparency in the lease caused, it said.

The accountability watchdog received complaints against the PML-N on November 26, last year and got the proofs of involvement of Chaudhry Sher Ali at the verification stage.
