Democratic nominee Joe Biden has promised that if he is elected as the next US President he will treat Islam as it should be treated like any other major faith.

He said the idea that people are being separated makes no sense. "I promise you as president, Islam is going to be treated like it should be, like any other major confessional faith. I really mean that," Biden told a group of Muslim Americans.

Biden has vowed that he will repeal President Donald Trump's Muslim ban on his first day in office. He has also pledged that Muslim Americans would be included in every social and political aspect in his administration.

"As President, I'll work with you to rip the poison of hate from our society, to honor your contributions and seek your ideas," Biden said in a video message to civil rights organization Muslim Advocates.

Results of a recent survey conducted by the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, shows that a total of 71 percent of Muslims in America will be voting for Biden.

Americans will head to the polls on November 3.
