Coronavirus claims nine more lives taking death tally to 6,736

(Karachi) At least 832 people contracted coronavirus infection while nine more fell prey to the disease during 24 hours, Radio Pakistan has reported.

As per the statistics issued by National Command and Operation Centre, tests of 28,724 people were conducted while the number of active cases in the country is 10,668. The figure of patients recovered from the virus has reached 310,491.

So far, coronavirus disease has claimed lives of 6,736 people. The highest number of cases have been reported in Sindh with 143, 526, Punjab 102, 677, Islamabad 18921, K-P 39,015, Balochistan15,80, GB 4,167 and Azad and Jammu Kashmir 3,788 cases.

Earlier, the NCOC issued a lockdown warning and called for better compliance with Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs) in wake of increase in the country's positivity rate, virus-related deaths and hospital admissions.

The forum noted that the positivity ratio had risen which is 40 percent higher while deaths were also increasing.

It also noted that Muzaffarabad, Hyderabad, Karachi and Gilgit-Baltistan have a higher positivity ratio along with other areas across the country.
