Dr. Atif’s lecture at IBA cancelled citing ‘threats from extremists’

The University also confirmed that the lecture has been cancelled via tweet and regretted on inconvenience.

Princeton University economist Atif R. Mian’s virtual seminar at Institute of Business Administration (IBA) has been cancelled citing threats from extremists.

In a tweet, Mr. Atif, who was scheduled to lecture students “Why has economic growth fallen behind in Pakistan?”, tweeted : “Sorry to report that my zoom economics seminar at IBA Karachi has been cancelled due to threats that the university administration was facing from extremists.”

The University also confirmed that the lecture has been cancelled via tweet and regretted on inconvenience.

However, they didn’t make any comment on cause of cancellation of the lecture.
