Capital witnesses increase in street crimes

ISLAMABAD: The federal Capital witnessed an increase in street crimes as over eight cases of robbery and theft, nine cases of carjacking, and two cases of kidnapping were reported to the city’s police stations during the last week.

According to the data gathered by Business Recorder, most active areas for criminal gangs were within the limits of Karachi Company, Sihala, Bhara Kahu, and Sabzi Mandi police stations.

During the last week, Bhara Kahu police station registered one case each of robbery and auto theft.

Mukhtiar Ali registered a complaint with Bhara Kahu Police Station that accused Waseem stole cash of Rs 130,000 from his car bearing registration number IDS-1673.

Auto thieves stole a car bearing registration ES-136 belonging to Mumtaz Muhammad worth Rs 2,000,000.

In the same period, Sihala Police Station registered two cases of snatching at gunpoint.

Nafees lodged a complaint with Sihala police that accused Rahmaullah snatched cash and mobile from his sister worth Rs 50,000.

Another Muhammad Sodhir lodged a complaint with Sihala Police Station that two armed persons snatched his bike bearing registration number AZ-088 from him worth Rs 100,000.

One case each of carjacking and kidnapping were reported to Karachi Company police during the last week.

Auto thieves stole a bike bearing registration number AKN-360 belonging to Muhammad Saqib worth Rs 80,000.
