There is need to follow SOPs to contain spread of COVID-19: Umar

  • Minister says proactive response by people has been the key in success against coronavirus pandemic

(Karachi) Minister for Planning Asad Umar has said that there is a need to follow coronavirus guidelines including use of face masks to avoid the spread of the disease.

Chairing a meeting of National Command and Operation Center in Islamabad on Tuesday, Umar said risk mitigation is important to check the second wave of corona in the country.

He added, "We as a nation and all stakeholders have taken rights steps which helped us in saving lives and contain disease spread." He said the proactive response by the people has been the key in success against Covid-19.

The minister highlighted that the people of Pakistan have shown great responsibility to not only protect themselves but following guidelines they have ensured the safety and well-being of others.

On the occasion, Asad Umar appreciated the role of media organizations for raising awareness regarding coronavirus and in reaching out to masses.

Meanwhile, the meeting was informed that 3,497 smart lockdowns have been imposed in 103 districts across the country. The forum was informed that 52% Covid test are being done due to proactive strategy of Trace, Test and Quarantine.
