SDG Programme: NA body for release of funds to all Sindh MNAs

ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Housing and Works recommended to the federal government on Wednesday to release funds of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Programme to “all the MNAs of the province of Sindh, irrespective of party affiliation, for execution of their development schemes.”

Engineer Najeeb Haroon, the Member National Assembly (MNA) from the ruling party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Chairman Committee, presided over its meeting.

During the meeting, Pak Public Works Department (PWD) officials briefed the committee that the Pak-PWD (South Zone) was executing all the schemes, duly approved by the competent forum after release of funds against administrative approval, for the MNAs belonging to the Sindh, under the SDGs programme.

The committee then recommended that the federal government should release funds of SDGs Programme to all the MNAs of the province of Sindh, irrespective of party affiliation, for execution of their development schemes.

Waseem Hayat Bajwa, director general, Federal Government Employees Housing Authority (FGEHA), briefed the Committee on the ongoing projects being undertaken by the authority.

He informed the NA panel that the plots of Green Enclave-I Housing Scheme (Phase-I) at Bhara Kahu would be handed over to the allottees next year.

The committee formed a sub-committee under the convener-ship of Iqbal Muhammad Ali Khan from Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) to monitor on ground development work of different housing schemes being undertaken by the FGEHA, and directed the management to ensure timely delivery of plots/units to the allottees.

Federal Minister for Housing and Works Tariq Bashir Cheema and committee members including Mehboob Shah, Malik Anwar Taj, Malik Karamat Ali Khokhar, Syed Samiul Hassan Gillani, Chaudhry Javed Iqbal Warraich, Zille Huma, Wajiha Akram, Salahuddin, Iqbal Muhammad Ali Khan, among other committee members as well as senior officers, attended the meeting.
