Peace in Afghanistan will bring prosperity to tribal areas, says PM

  • He said the government will provide all possible funds for the socio-economic development of tribal areas.

Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that trade and prosperity in the tribal areas depend on peace in Afghanistan and if the talks between Afghanistan and the Taliban are successful, then tribal areas will flourish.

Addressing a gathering in Mohmand District, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the PM said reconciliation process has started between the Taliban and Afghanistan and he prays that there is peace in Afghanistan.

He said all provinces had promised that 3 percent of the NFC Award will be given for development of tribal districts. However, he regretted, only KP has given its share while the other provinces are yet to allocate its share of funds for the purpose.

The PM continued that the government will provide all possible funds for the socio-economic development of tribal districts. He said he has directed the Ministry of Planning in this regard.

On his visit to KP, the PM will inaugurate the newly constructed 500 bedded Medical and Allied Block in Lady Reading Hospital.
