Additional SHO killed in encounter with bandits in Karachi

(Karachi) A police official was killed during an encounter with bandits on University Road, media reported on Friday.

Police said that four robbers snatched cash from a citizen at Khalid Bin Waleed Road. In the meantime, a police team of Ferozabad police station reached the spot and challenged the suspects. However, the accused opened fire on the police personnel and escaped from the scene.

The police said a message was sent on the wireless about the suspects and a check post was set up near Safari Park. Upon seeing the policemen, the bandits opened fire at them that resulted in the killing of Additional SHO of Gulistan-e-Jauhar Police Station, Abdul Rahim.

The robbers, however, fled the scene. As per initial reports, the bandits were involved in two shootouts with the police but they could not be apprehended. During the incident, the suspects snatched three vehicles to evade police arrest.

Police teams are on high alert and were tracing the accused. A search operation has been launched to find the culprits.

Earlier, a police officer was killed in a shooting near Northern Bypass in Karachi. Sub-inspector Yar Mohammad was posted at the Gulshan-e-Maymar police station and was on his way home when unidentified assailants riding on motorbikes shot him dead. The attackers managed to escape from the scene.
