Pakistan reports highest single day rise in COVID-19 cases since August

Pakistan has reported its single-highest day coronavirus cases since August after 799 people tested positive for the novel virus.

During the last 24 hours, the country conducted 42,299 tests. So far, Pakistan has conducted 3,306,515 tests. Currently, there are 7,388 active cases, while 548 are critical cases.

The country also reported five deaths in the past 24 hours, taking the death toll to 6,437. 476 people have also recovered from the novel virus. The total number of recoveries have increased to 294,392 while the recovery rate is 95.5 per cent.

Sindh has recorded 134,845 cases, Punjab 98,686, Balochistan 14,765 and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has recorded 37,470 infections. Similarly, 16,288 cases have been confirmed in Islamabad, 3,572 in Gilgit-Baltistan and 2,591 in Azad Kashmir.
