KARACHI: Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major General Babar Iftikhar, stated in a press conference earlier today that the Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa has stated that all legal matters will be resolved through courts, while the political matters will be resolved in the parliament.

The DG-ISPR made a startling revelation that former Governor of Punjab, and notable senior figure in PML-N, Muhammad Zubair held two meetings with the Army Chief, stating that "the first meeting was held in the last week of August while the other was held on September 7," he stated. He added that the DG ISI was also present in these meetings.

Both meetings were related to Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz, he said. During the meetings, the army chief made it clear that army has no role in politics and all issues related to politics will be resolved in the parliament while those related to judiciary will be addressed in courts, Iftikhar said.

This is in contrast to Maryam Nawaz's statement earlier this week, that no PML-N leader has held one-on-one meetings with the senior leadership of the Armed Forces.

Regarding the polio campaign, Iftikhar said the polio campaign was disrupted due to coronavirus pandemic. He maintained that Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa also attended the polio drive.

"We will make Pakistan polio-free by 2021," he remarked.

To a question related to Indian aggression and ceasefire violation along LoC, the DG ISPR said that Armed Forces of Pakistan are fully prepared to give a befitting response to any misadventure from Indian side.
