APC termed failed drama: Punjab CM directs action against those involved in raising flour rate

LAHORE: Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar, in a meeting with Senior Minister Abdul Aleem Khan, here Tuesday directed indiscriminate action against the elements involved in unjustified increase in the rate of flour.

Both discussed the availability of wheat and flour in the province.

Terming the APC of the opposition as a failed drama, the CM said it had again proved that the opposition only wanted to protect its personal interests. The opposition’s APC had ended in a fiasco and the opposition parties had totally ignored the national interests, he added.

The CM maintained that rejected elements could not deceive the conscientious people; the opposition parties were, in fact, trying to obstruct the national development in the country.

Abdul Aleem Khan said on the occasion that the food department was ensuring supply of flour and different steps were taken to ensure its availability at the notified rate. The food department officials were also monitoring the price of flour, he added.

The CM, while chairing an important meeting about the new local government system, said that a strong local bodies system would solve public problems at the grassroots and a genuine representation would be available to the people through the Punjab Local Government Act. A public leadership would emerge at the grassroots through the elections of the village, panchayat and neighbourhood councils to solve the public problems at their doorsteps, he added.

The CM also chaired a meeting at his office about the performance of the information department. The CM stated that modernization of the information department according to the needs of the new era was important as social media had improved access to information in the wake of traditional print and electronic media.

Moreover, talking to religious scholar Maulana Tariq Jamil, the CM appreciated the role played by him and other public intellectuals for the eradication of polio and coronavirus.

The CM observed that religious scholars’ active role in the elimination of polio would help overcome that fatal disease. Similarly, the role of religious scholars and intellectuals was very important in ideologically confronting the issue of fanaticism, he added.
